Stanton Street Kitchen

Kitchen Remodel · Northeast Portland

A 1960s-era poorly executed remodel left this 1920s home with a dark and poorly laid out kitchen. For the remodel we reconfigured the kitchen layout. With some modest modifications, the space was adapted to support a classic and functional galley kitchen layout that feels like it belongs in the home.

The range, refrigerator, and wall ovens fill in along the interior wall allowing for a bright, open work-area along the exterior wall. The sink is located at an original bay allowing for an extra deep sill.

A black and white checkerboard linoleum floor offers a nod to the 1920s-era home, while providing a comfortable and practical flooring choice. A white oak built-in seating area anchors the east end of the kitchen and takes advantage of morning light. Farrow and Ball Hague Blue cabinets provide a rich contrast to the white quartz countertops.
